I am lost in the familiar—

adrift in the monotony of the mundane,

moving through a world of

blurred countenances,

unseen,

unheard.

My voice,

submerged in a sea

of cacophonous clamour,

drowns beneath

the weight of unspoken words,

chokes on my silenced tongue,

as the masses drift by,

deaf to my quiet pleas.

I am trapped

in familiar waves of sorrow,

each crash against my fragile form

pulling me under

as I struggle to tread water.

I dream of soothing sand

beneath my feet,

the shore’s sanctuary,

where tumult subsides.

My gaze reaches for the horizon,

for the world

beyond this rapturous riptide,

where I might break free,

float on the unmapped waters

of unfamiliarity.

Dancing butterflies

flail within a mason jar,

mourning their futile transition,

longing to be free.

Art is what we call...the thing an artist does.

It's not the medium or the oil or the price or whether it hangs on a wall or you eat it. What matters, what makes it art, is that the person who made it overcame the resistance, ignored the voice of doubt and made something worth making. Something risky. Something human.

Art is not in the ...eye of the beholder. It's in the soul of the artist.

Reaching towards the poetry

That forms and fades

In the beat beneath my rib cage

Spilling lyrics

To the tips of eager fingers

Desperate to pull

At your well tuned strings.

Dandelion in a field of buttercups

drowned by golden glow,

but as the fading canicular sunset

falls solemnly

in the comfort of her aqueous bed,

her wishes carry

upon the breath of summer,

kissing wilting fields of sunshine

with gentle seeds of hope.

Chase chaos like the wind

Taste the pandemonium of nimbrose skies

Live wild in nature’s grasp.
