Wasted wishes lace discarded dreams -
she sits,
waits and watches
as heat rises
from hot coal toes
to strawberry blushes.
Compassion, callous cannibal,
gorges at a hypnotised heart;
tear away teeth mutilate
malingering memories
forage forget-me-not fears.
Regret rips at a mortified mind
as she reflects, inspects, digests,
words so softly spoken,
so innocently shared
unveiling vivid visions
of jettisoned gestures.
Humiliation hovers,
a heavy cloud of concentration
threatening a slanderous storm.
She sits, waits and watches
as the heavens open -
awaits the descent of a torrid torrent,
a dehumanising downfall of deploration.
