In his post this week, Spend it All,
shared this glorious piece of art. It called to me (from the depths of those cerulean waves) and here is what is prompted! And… it’s for sale! Head over to his store to get your hands on an original piece of artwork!
Sail away —
beyond the folding line
of sea and sky,
where memory stands
with open arms
and hope,
too foolish yet to tire,
waits smiling.
Below deck,
the wind toys with my hair,
unbidden,
as if it knew me
in some other life.
Nostalgia,
sharp and cold,
lays its lips upon my cheek
and lingers there —
not lover,
but old friend.
Yet still,
the threads of tomorrow
weave themselves
in these loose and blowing strands,
small,
quiet braids
of silver and salt.
Yes —
there is hope,
softly it stirs
where dreams are not yet drowned,
and belief,
slender-masted,
sails on —
stealthy still —
toward an unseen port.
Love and light 🌸❤️🌸
So many lovely lines!
“the threads of tomorrow
weave themselves
in these loose and blowing strands”
Lovely poem. This line stands out to me.
Also congrats on collaborating with an artist! This is exactly what I have been looking to do… create new poems inspired by art from other artists or photographers (in or outside of Substack).
(I haven’t yet… am looking for collaborators).
