It's a very self-reflective poem, above all about excessive adaptation, the desire to please or to appear to be something you're not. At the same time, it's a poem about the human capacity to shape oneself.

Very melancholy and cinematic. You kind of know that this is a dream or state that won't last, no matter how perfect, how beautiful and right it is. You give subtle hints as to how it will end. But beautifully written and executed.

Ahh, Rick, you’re too kind! I think you got the nail on the head here - it’s definitely a disappointment of a kind isn’t it. Have you read Paper Menagerie by Ken Liu, it’s wonderful short prose about a little boy intoxicated by origami animals 🍁🧡🍁
